Free storyboard generator
Paste your script, or just an idea, and get a scene-by-scene breakdown for a vertical video: the visual, the spoken line, the on-screen text, the motion and the duration of every shot.
Why bother with a storyboard?
The storyboard is where you check that every sentence has a picture. If a sentence has nothing to show, it’s probably one too many, or it deserves a diagram. This breakdown saves you hours in the edit and makes the video denser without making it longer.
In a vertical video, a scene rarely lasts more than 3 to 5 seconds. Past that, attention drops. The table gives you a duration for each scene, based on a natural speaking pace.
How to read the table
“On screen” describes the main visual. “Line” is what the voice says. “Text” is the keyword shown big: three to five words, max. “Motion” is the animation that brings the information in at the right moment.
Use it as a brief for an editor, as the base for your own edit, or send it to the Motiongist studio, which builds the complete video from the script.
Frequently asked questions
I don’t have a script yet. Will it still work?
Yes: choose “I just have an idea”. We write a short script first, then split it into scenes. For more control over the wording, start with the script generator.
How many scenes in a short?
Usually one per sentence, so 12 to 20 scenes for a minute. Pacing comes down to sentence length.
Are the durations exact?
They’re estimates based on an average speaking pace. In Motiongist, real durations are computed from the generated voice, down to the word.
Can I export the storyboard?
Click “Copy” to grab every scene as text, ready to paste into a doc or a spreadsheet.
